Any 'craft' that impressed you? I liked the spice racks that were on those lazy susans. I heard Callahan is really starting to crack down on crafters that aren't selling things that they make themselves and also on vendors that don't have a license to sell logos. 50201,
I didn't think it was too bad -- I went on Sunday and it seemed like they were missing a few vendors. Nothing impressed me too much - most of the stuff I had seen before. One thing that I thought was kinda neat and I hadn't seen before were the night lights they had that you could change the picture in and they had tons of images to choose from. I missed seeing Harold Kentner that does Hand crafted wood items out of Osceola - I LOVE his jewelry boxes and heart shelves and the other wood crafts he makes. I had to buy some catnip mice from the nice man I visit EVERY Time I go to the Varied Industries Craft Show as my cats LOVE those mice and constantly loose them. I think the lazy susan spice racks are kinda cool too. I saw flyers for the big craft show they USED to have at Vet's Memorial Auditorium and then the Events Center for two years after that and then all of a sudden they just quit having them -- I am still missing that show. They screwed up and had it the same time as a cars show the last year they held it (both in the same area) so only 1/2 the vendors could come and the car show part was pretty dumb. |

So do you have a favorite craft show? Or do you think the Des Moines Callahan is the best?

My favorite is actually the one in Nevada. The second best would have been the one they used to hold at Vet's till they ruined it - so now second best is probably the Callahan ones at Varied Industries. I hear the Ankeny craft show is really good to, but I have never been able to attend that one.
What about you, 50201? |

I've only been to Adventureland's, Callahan's in Des Moines, and the Nevada craft show.
I want to try out a few more before I pick a clear winner but I would have to say that Callahan's is my favorite IF they didn't charge admission. |
